Richard Cabela bought fishing flies for $45 in Chicago and decided to try selling them by placing an ad in a local newspaper. Only one person responded, so Cabela placed an advertisement in the national magazine for active people, Sports Afield, thanks to which he sold the remaining batch. With each order he shipped, he included a postcard with a list of other products that could be purchased at Cabelas, his little shop.
As a result, Cabelas began selling hunting clothing and various fishing accessories in the USA, and over more than 50 years it grew into the most successful company in its industry. Today, the Cabelas chain and online store in the USA account for $3 billion in sales a year; it is one of the largest and most successful retailers in the world.

In addition to these and many other products for men, the official Cabelas website in the USA also sells women’s and children’s clothing that is not afraid of dirt or rain. This is mainly sportswear and outerwear, as well as gloves, raincoats, and various practical items. You will not find handbags, high-heeled shoes, or evening outfits here. Many women buy their winter and autumn shoes and clothing here thanks to the favorable prices on products, especially during discount periods. From Russia all the more so: buying products from brands like Columbia and The North Face at Cabelas will be many times cheaper than in domestic online stores. Delivery of purchases from Cabelas to Russia
Cabelas offers international shipping. Packages from there can go directly to Russia or CIS countries. The exception – again, is for weapons, any items prohibited from export outside the States, and goods that do not fit customs size limits. The store also does not ship abroad clothing and footwear of certain brands (Levi's, Carhartt, Wrangler), which protect their representatives abroad. If a product is not shipped overseas, this will be indicated on the product page in the Notes and Restrictions section.
But even if an item is not prohibited for shipping, the cost of direct shipping from Cabelas will be very high. For Russia, their most «cost-effective» method is International Standard Air (by air). The cost of such delivery is 45% of the order amount (but not less than $40). At the same time, the cost of one package cannot exceed $250 per week (including the delivery price). So if you are buying something more expensive than a bag of buckwheat, it is simply not cost-effective. One advantage of direct shipping from Cabelas – this way you can ship something heavy and bulky, since there is no direct dependence on weight and dimensions here.
